Sentosa 14/01/06
Fine despite raining for so many days liao.
On 14 Jan 06, finally we had our long ago arranged trip to Setosa. The 4 of us including me, YS, YR & TM, went to Sentosa in the afternoon as we discussed since last August when we went to the musuem. There was a promotion and we chosen Sentosa Experience Package 2 which the retail price is S$25.90 per person. The package include Island admission, The Merlion admission, Sky Tower admission, Butterfly Park & Insect Kingdom admission and Images of Singapore admission. Well, we decided to take the Cable Car which cost $10.90 for a return trip too. We had pizza lunch at Farbour Front City which YM was late for about more than 45 minutes, promised to treat us to dinner that evening. Then we embarked on our journey to Senotsa by cable car.
On reaching Sentosa, our first destination was the Butterfly Park & Insect Kingdom. It had been a long long time since I went there. When I went to Sentosa in 2004 with my family, we did not went there. So it have been a long long time. Butterfly Park & Insect Kingdom was rearranged in terms of the exhibits and layout. We saw the "Biao Ben" of the butterflies and insects. It's a nice place but seeing the worms crawling makes me have goose bumps. There are abt 1500 live butterlies from 50 species in the Butterfly Park & Insect Kingdom and other 3000 species of the world's most beautiful and rare insects in the exhibits. Then we left for Fort Siloso.
As Fort Silso admission was not included in the package, we pay $8 per person to go there. We took the "Green Line" bus from Butterfly Park & Insect Kingdom to Fort Siloso. Initally, we wanted to walk up but then the bus came down so we took the bus up instead. [Fort Siloso, Singapore's only preserved coastal fort stands as an important window to our colonial past and a poignant reminder of the war years. Life-sized replicas, interactive exhibits and even authentic aromas are lovingly recreated. Visitors can browse through more than 245 photographs, documents and film clips on display. When 'classes' are over, head out into the sunshine and examine actual 17th century guns and cannons, or explore the old tunnels. And while you're here, be sure to check out two new docudramas about the war years, three new routes and some brand-new exhibits, guaranteed to make history leap out at you.] The above [] comes from Sentosa webpage. We took many pictures here and the clouds were really dark so we have to hurry and secondly, we dun have so much time, so we had to hurry. To be frank, we were running due to lack of time and raining. Then we decided our next stop should be Images of Singapore.
We missed the "Green Line" bus when we reached the bus-stop so we had to wait for another ne but there was no bus in sight and we waited for abt 10 minutes b4 the bus came. We took the upper deck and suddenly it rained, so we were wet. Then upon reaching Images of Singapore, the rain became heavier, but Images of Singapore is like a musuem, so no big deal. Then we went into Images of Singapore. Images of Singapore had just undergo renovations and when I went in 2004 Dec, it was not opened to public yet, so how can I miss this place this time round. Images of Singapore had been re-layout and included many new exhibits. When we went into Images of Singapore, we had to go and see a show 1st b4 we can continue our walk. There were a lot to see in Images of Singapore. I think we spend abt 1 hour here until we heard the announcement that Images of Singapore is closing in 15 minutes time. So we hurried up and took many photos b4 we decided to move to the next attraction.
The next attraction we went to is The Merlion which is nearby the Images of Singapore too. We walked our way down to The Merlion. The floor was wet because of the rain earlier. It was abt 6+ almost to 7pm when we reached The Merlion. So we went to see a video show 1st then we can have a lucky pick of free gifts from The Merlion. Then we took the lift to the top and we went to The Merlion's head and yo, nobody was there, so we could take some beautiful photos and guess what we saw the sunset. Then got other tourists came up so we went to The Merlion's mouth. Also, here got nobody taking pictures yet, so we took many photos here b4 we left The Merlion and went to the Sky Tower. So we had to walk up to the Sky Tower.
It was nice time when we were at Sky Tower. The scenary was beautiful. One can see the whole of Sentosa night scenary from the Sky Tower. Even though we did not make it to the musical Foundation to see the firworks but luck was on our side, we saw it from the Sky Tower. Then after that, we took the Cable Car to Mount Faber and called for a cab to sent us to City Hall. We had dinner at Cafe Cartel, courtesy of YM. We chatted till 11.30pm before we decided to share a cab back home.
Sherry's Thought:
It was a fun trip today especially with YS, YR and YM. I think we all had a fun time. I planned the route from Butterfly Park & Insect Kingdom to Fort Siloso to Images of Singapore then to The Merlion and Sky Tower purposely so that we can see the sunset and night scenary from the top. We managed to see the fireworks at the Musical Fountains from the Sky Tower. As we only reached at about 3+, the time we had in Sentosa was short so we had to hurry but I think we all enjoyed it. It was a nice trip though a bit rush but I really enjoyed myself. By the way, I forget to mention that I bought my new tripod stand along so we can take more group pictures. In the end, we really took more group pictures. Guess what, there were 3 cameras but mainly photos were taken by my camera. Ha...Ha...Ha....
