Korea Trip: Day 8
22.04.2006
Today was our last day in Korea. Like yesterday, we had Chinese style buffet breakfast in a local restaurant. After breakfast, we went to Cordyceps Monopoly Showroom where it was not stated in the itinerary but we went too. My mum got her wish and bought 2 bottles of Cordyceps. After that we went to Myeong Dong Fahion Street. We were given 2 hours to shop around and had our lunch.
Myeong Dong
Myeong-dong resembles a massive shopping city. Myeong-dong Street spreads about 1km from Myeong-dong Subway Station (Seoul Subway Line No. 4) to Lotte Department Store at Euljiro. All kinds of brand name shops and department stores are clustered on the streets and alleyways. You can purchase various products such as clothes, shoes, and accessories. Compared to Namdaemun or Dongdaemun, many good-quality brands are sold in Myeong-dong. Such stores include Lotte Department Store, Shinsegae Department Store, U-too Zone, Myeong-dong Migliore and Avatar. You can purchase good-quality products at the department stores or other fashionable products at reasonable prices at Migliore or Avatar. Moreover, all kinds of brand shops are densely located along the main street and lanes. Myeong-dong also has family restaurants, fast food, Korean, Western and Japanese food. Among many restaurants, Myeong-dong are specializes in pork cutlet and kalguksu(noodles). Other than restaurants, there are many convenient facilities such as hair shops, banks and theaters.
We walked around for 2 hours, buying gifts, looking at clothes, shoes, cosmetics etc. Actually, there were really many shops in Myeong Dong. It's another shopping paradise but things in Korea are actually quite expensive, so cannot buy too much things.. Haizzz...... After that, we got on the bus at about 12.30pm and headed to "Qing He", a korean local products shop. There were vaious kinds of korean food here and we bought a lot of food or tibits. We also bought some kimchi and it was all being cartonized, so we just need to check-in the whole carton. It was about 2pm then.
Following that, we headed to the Incheon airport and reached at about 2.15pm, just nice for checking in. My family came with 2 luggage bags and returned with 4 luggage bags and 2 cartons. I think we bought too many things. Haha.... Then we took some pictures with the tour guides, Lisa and Jenny. Following that, we bidded them farewell and saying "Thank U" to them for taking care of us for the past 1 week. It was 3pm local time when we went to the counter to proceed into the departure hall. Yinmei & my sister went to buy food for my aunts and they were only back 20 minutes before the gate closed. At 4.00pm local time, we were on the Plane OZ751 waiting for the plane to take off to fly back to Singapore.
On the plane, the 7 of us were served special meals-Fish meals as all 7 of us do not take beef, so special meals for us. Dinner was served at about 5.45pm korea time, about 1 hour after taking off. Actually our meals were special, because we already told the tour agency that we were not taking beef. Thinking back, Lisa actually still remembered to inform the Airline about it especially after she rearranged our seats. So nice of her.
I slept for a while but as this time round, I'm sitting near the windows, I can see the view outside clearly, so I took some pictures of the sun setting. I also get to hear Fish Leong's songs on board the plane, also listened to korean songs. I was almost awake throughout the return journey. Mainly, I think I cannot sleep in the day....

It was 9.25pm when the plane touched down in Singapore. As we were seated near the end of the plane, so basically, we were the last to alight from the flight. Through out the 4 flights in the journey, our group was usually seated at the end of the plane. After checking of passports, buying of wine, collecting of luggages, it was almost 10.15pm. What a tiring but enjoyable trip...... Home Sweet Home
