Korea Trip: Day 2
At about 5.55 am local time (Korea's time is 1 hour ahead of Singapore), we reached Incheon Airport. It was a large airport. Then we went to collect our luggages. We were greeted by Jenny & Lisa at the airport. We were given an hour time for breakfast and to make some purchases from the shops before we proceed to Yong-In Everland, theme park in Yongin, Gyeonggi. We had breakfast at McDonald. By the way, the tour group consists of 27 people of both young and old.
Yong-In Everland
Everland located in Yongin, is a big theme park, which includes a zoo, snow sled, and botanical garden. Everland contains three distinct themes which are Festival World, Caribbean Bay, and Speedway. Festival World includes Global Fair, American Adventure, Magic Land, European Adventure, and Equatorial Adventure, each created with is own unique style. Caribbean Bay is the very first water park in Korea. Its main feature is the wave pool, and many people come here during the summer just to ride waves. Speedway is also the very first of its kind in Korea. Car racers can practice here, and it is also a training spot for learning about automobile culture. The entire course measures 2.225 km and the average width of the track is 11m. The straight distance of the area is 450 meters and the road is covered with asphalt, which can accommodate about 35,000 spectators. Everland also features the Glen Ross Golf Club, Automobile Museum, Sportspark, and Hoam Art Gallery.
The tour package included the entrance ticket & Big 5 tickets for Everland. So we can try 5 different types of rides. When we reached there, the theme park was not opened yet but there were many people outisde the theme park waiting to go in, mainly I think because it is a Sunday, a day for family outing. Upon 9.30am, the door opened and everyone went in slowly. It was a very big theme park and the weather that day was very very cold and the wind was blowing strongly but guess what there was still sun but it was not hot at all.
We went for the cable car ride, the one where you legs is hanging in the air one. It is known as the the Skyway Gas Station which can takes 4 person at one time. This cable car takes us from the American Adventure to the European Adventure. Then we walked to the Safari World where it was the only safari complex in the world where lions and tigers co-exist. We queued about 1 hour I think cause there were too many people. Finally, it's our turns. We took the bus to see "Ligers"- son & daughter of tiger & lion. Also there, were bears, huge black bears who can perform simple tricks like kissing.
Then Lisa wanted us to go and try the Amazon Express which was actually a rapid stream expedition through a 580 meter-long jungle. But we did not went for it cause one will get wet during the ride. As we were extremely cold, it was better not to go for it. So we walked around the gift shop and I went to buy Choco for Won $2500~S$4.20, very expensive hor. We wanted to go to the Global Village where there were many dolls in folk clothes but there were too many people n if we queue, it will take about another hour. So the whole group gave up and went for the Festival Train which was a flower train circling the Four Seasons Garden. We queued about 30 over minutes for a 5 minutes short ride but it was a nice ride. Then after that, was free time, we can roam the place on our own till 2.30pm and bought the bus own our own. No late-comers allowed coz we going to take dosmetic flight to Jeju Island. So we went to take pictures in the Four Seasons Garden, there were many many tulips n the scenary was great too. Of course, we took a lot of pictures.
After that, we went to Oriental restaurant- a family restaurant serving fried rice, pork cutlets etc. So the 7 of us went in for lunch. 1 person spent about S$1o for lunch if no drinks included. But there were plain water for free available if you like.
Finally, we went to the Sheepo & Mangmang House where there were many Everland characters products on sale. We bought some keychains, magnets and took some pictures in the shop. Then we went to see the Celebration Center where the 30 years memorial hall was. By the way, Everland is celebrating 30th anniversary this year. Then we left Everland n get onto the bus.
We were on our way to the old international airport which had became the domestic airport now known as Gimpo Airport. We had to check in and board the plane, 5 mins before the flying time which was 5.05pm. Did I mention that Lisa actually re-arrange our flight seats so we can sit together. The plane OZ8947 was a much smaller plane as it was only a domestic flight. The flight took about an hour to reach Jeju Island.
Jeju-do
Cheju-do is the premier tourist destination in Korea because of the stunning natural scenery and superior tourist amenities. Scenic beaches, waterfalls, cliffs and caves lie in harmony, and the mild weather makes Jeju-do an even more ideal tourist destination. Mt. Hallasan in Jeju-do has flora and fauna of both temperate and tropical varieties, coexisting on the mountain. The Jungmun Tourist Complex is a comprehensive tourist resort and provides top-quality accommodations and tourist facilities. Tourism is one of the main industries on the island, many of the hotels and other tourist areas are run by mainland companies, so much of the income never gets put back into the local economy.
Upon reaching Jeju Airport, we went to collect our luggages and waited for everyone to gather before we get onto the bus waiting for us outside. Lisa and Jenny was supposing to take care of us for the whole trip but Jenny did not went Jeju Island with us. So we had to carry our luggages ourself.
Following that, we went for our dinner at a local restaurant and we had seafood pot. Delicious food and side dishes.
After dinner, we went to Jeju Underground shopping street but there were nothing much to buy or should I say we were too tired to shop after flying for so many hours in one day. But it's was a good experience and since it's a sunday, there were not many people shopping actually.
Tonite, we will be staying at Cheju Oriental Hotel, a 5 star hotel which consisted of a casino also.
